The Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) was founded in 1976 as part of the emerging biblical counseling movement led by Jay Adams. ACBC exists to provide certification, training, and resources that promote "doctrinal integrity" and "biblical sufficiency" in counseling ministry. The organization primarily serves pastors, church leaders, and Christians involved in biblical counseling. ACBC represents the conservative evangelical and strongly Reformed tradition within the broader biblical counseling movement, emphasizing Scripture as sufficient for addressing the problems people face.
